Epic Bikepark Leogang was established exactly 25 years ago as the first official bike park in Austria. It will celebrate a quarter of a century in the 2026 season, and to celebrate, in collaboration with the Rasoulution agency and local tourism offices, we have prepared a three-part article that will provide a closer look at Austria’s largest bike region, Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn. This is the last part of our series, so it’s time for Saalbach Hinterglemm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

25 years of Bikepark Leogang – Saalbach Hinterglemm<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Saalbach Hinterglemm is an Austrian municipality located in the Salbzurg district of Zell am Zee, at the eastern end of the Kitzb\u00fchel Alps. It consists of two very close villages, Saalbach and Hinterglemm, and has a population of just under three thousand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1991 and 2025, the Alpine World Ski Championships were held here and in terms of mountinbiking events, the Enduro World Cup competitions were held here as part of the UCI Mountain Bike World Series. Also regularly organized is the Glemmride Bike Festival<\/a>. The 2026 season saw the 10th anniversary edition, with attractions including a large EXPO zone, ride with the pros sessions, a Big Air show by the Masters of Dirt team, and downhill event, which was as part of the Rookies Downhill Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since Saalbach Hinterglemm is comprised of two towns that share a single administrative and local government unit, the area available to mountanibikers is the largest in the entire Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn region. Currently five lifts are available, with plans to open two more (one is undergoing renovations, the other currently operates only in winter). In summer of 2026, all lifts are open from 9:00 AM to 4:15 PM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Reiterkogelbahn lift, located in the center of Hinterglemm, is currently undergoing modernization. As a result, the trails there, including the excellent black Pro Line, are currently closed. The work is scheduled to be completed by the start of the winter season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Saalbach Hinterglemm area you will find everything: flow, relax and some hardcore.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Bike Park Trails<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We begin our tour in Hinterglemm, where riders currently have access to two lifts equipped with comfortable gondolas. The first is the 12er Kogel, located on the Zw\u00f6lferkogel (the top station is 1,984m a.s.l.). Until the 2025 season, only halfway up, where the Z-Line<\/strong> trail began, was accessible. This red line is 4 km long and has an elevation drop of 450 meters, combining flow elements, technical descents and wooden constructions such as a wallride or northshore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This changed in June 2025, when the 12er Sky Line<\/strong> opened at the top station. 6km of descent, 448m of elevation drop and incredible views make this blue flow line perfect for relaxation ride or a good warm-up before the Z-Line. At the same time, a small “Learn to Ride” beginners’ area also opened at the mid-station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second bike lift in Hinterglemm is the Westgipfelbahn, which terminates at the western peak of the Schattberg mountain (2,096m a.s.l.). There are three trails to choose from:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Sheepy Hollow Line<\/strong> – 1km long, 119m of elevation drop; a red freeride connector to the fAIRy Line trail. As the name suggests, plenty of sheep are guaranteed along the way.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Hacklberg Trail<\/strong> – 5.4km long, 600m of elevation drop; the most famous trail in the entire region, a red, mostly natural single track leading to the Westgipfelbahn mid-station. It is also one of the most scenic trails in the region.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Bergstadl Trail<\/strong> – 2.5km long, 600m of elevation drop; the most challenging downhill trail in the entire area, a very narrow single track leading over significant exposures and steep slopes. At the bottom, it transforms into a forest carpet of roots, ending at the Westgipfelbahn mid-station.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Once you reach the Westgipfelbahn mid-station, you continue along the blue Buchegg Trail<\/strong>. It is a blue flow line with a length of 3.3 km and an elevation drop of 400 m, which leads us straight to Hinterglemm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
