{"id":3673,"date":"2017-06-17T21:41:51","date_gmt":"2017-06-17T19:41:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/43ride.com\/en\/?p=3673"},"modified":"2017-06-20T09:42:16","modified_gmt":"2017-06-20T07:42:16","slug":"les-gets-pump-track-delivers-french-first-finally","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/43ride.com\/en\/events\/2017\/les-gets-pump-track-delivers-french-first-finally\/","title":{"rendered":"Les Gets Pump Track delivers French first &#8211; finally!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"justify\">He is considered a pump track specialist and is the undefeated Crankworx Pump Track World Tour Champion, and yet, he hasn\u2019t placed first in the sport since the year he won Les 2 Alpes and Whistler to break onto the professional scene.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Time after time, Adrien Loron (FRA) has pounded through the bumps and berms of the Crankworx pump track\u2014in two French cities, New Zealand and Whistler\u2014only to come up short of the win, a small slip or a slight hesitation costing him victory in the sport he virtually owns.<\/p>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/43ride.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2017\/06\/crankworx-les-gets-2017-pumptrack-loron-guennet.jpg\" alt=\"Les Gets Pump Track delivers French first - finally!\" width=\"1050\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Adrien Loron vs Chaney Guennet<\/em><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Adrien Loron:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"justify\">I\u2019m trying, always, to learn from my mistakes in the past. When you didn\u2019t win, and you didn\u2019t win from a while, it\u2019s hard to put it all together to make it happen again.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"justify\">Winning on home soil, and giving the man he beat out, amateur Chaney Guennet (FRA), huge props for his efforts, he savoured the win, addressing the crowd directly to thank them at the end of the event.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Loron out at 11 a.m. and clocked a 10-hour effort to make it through the practices and matchups necessary just to finish his final match Friday, but the fans kept him going. His father, cousins and a huge mob of close friends, quite literally followed him around the track, warding off every split second of doubt that crept in.<\/p>\n<p>Adrien Loron:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"justify\">You have good feelings, then bad ones, and you have to deal with it. It\u2019s a lot in your head. You have to stay strong and listen to the people who loves you and, yeah, try to put altogether.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"justify\">Women\u2019s winner Jill Kintner said the marathon session it took earn her first place was furthered complicated by the strain of throwing downhill practice into the day.<\/p>\n<p>Jill Kintner:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"justify\">It\u2019s a big day, but that\u2019s how Crankworx is and I\u2019m glad to come out with enough focus to not do any damage to myself, and get a win.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/43ride.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2017\/06\/crankworx-les-gets-2017-pumptrack-kintner-buchanan.jpg\" alt=\"Les Gets Pump Track delivers French first - finally!\" width=\"1050\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Jill Kintner vs Caroline Buchanan<\/em><\/center><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The pump track is all about managing energy, sprinting again and again, but not over-spending on any given lap.<\/p>\n<p>Jill Kintner:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"justify\">You just have to have really good timing and good legs. You go from sitting on the sidelines to full intensity flooded out\u2026You\u2019re not pedalling, but you\u2019re sprinting and using your entire body. So it\u2019s pretty dynamic.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"justify\">Paired against fellow Queen of Crankworx frontrunner Caroline Buchanan (AUS), she said the stiff competition between the pair is great fuel for the fire\u2014and it certainly lit a candle under Buchanan Friday evening. Crossing over the line into Kintner\u2019s lane, Buchanan received a penalty in the first round of the final and had to compete their last pairing with a 1.34-second penalty to her name.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">This marks Kintner\u2019s ninth pump track championship win, but Buchanan is a BMX Olympian with plenty of experience, and she took the win in this event in Rotorua.<\/p>\n<p>Claire Buchanan:<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">I think it\u2019s literally going to be a battle all year long. There\u2019s like eight years between us, but yeah, same birthday, same star sign, and we\u2019re both super competitive.
