With perfect weather conditions behind him, Tom took off and his backflip of 120 feet, or 37 meters, makes it not only the longest backflip ever landed, but the longest dirt-to-dirt jump ever landed on a mountain bike!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>I couldn\u2019t be any happier right now! It was windy, but luckily I timed it perfectly so I had a tailwind off the jump and managed to travel 120 feet, absolutely smashing the old record set by Cam Zink of 100 feet!<\/p><cite>Tom Isted<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"854\" src=\"https:\/\/43ride.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2023\/04\/darkfest-2023-ericpalmer-tomisted2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8947\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Tom Isted \/ photo: Eric Palmer<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Liskeard native\u2019s mega 120-foot jump wasn\u2019t his first record of the week. The previous day he dropped in with fellow UK rider Sam Hodgson behind him and both riders did a backflip in a train, one behind the other. Tom landed 106 feet and Sam landed 104 feet, both breaking the previously held record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>It was the end of the session and the light was fading. The ground-breaking event is in its sixth year and has been held at the Hellsend Dirt compound in Stellenbosch, South Africa for five years. It continues to offer the women and men of freeriding the opportunity to test themselves on a course that\u2019s considered one of the best in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>Another record at Darkfest!
