The judges had their hands full with a stacked list of riders, and freshly built Whip-Off jump brought to you by the Elevate and World Trail crews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Make no mistake that Garret \u201clil Rojo\u201d Mechem was looking to go 2 for 2 as the Men\u2019s Australian Whip-Off Champ, and this year proved he could send it the most sideways, maintaining his position on the top step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" src=\"https:\/\/43ride.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2023\/05\/crankworxcairns-2023-whipoff-garretmechem.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8978\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Garret Mechem \/ photo: Clint Trahan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>Super stoked! The setup this year was really fun. It\u2019s very BMX-y, you can pop it pretty high. The faster you go into it, the harder you pull back, the higher you go up. So, you can just keep going higher and higher, faster and faster. It was best time ever.<\/p><cite>Garret Mechem<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The women\u2019s field saw more riders on course since it\u2019s inaugural event last October. This evening\u2019s event was giving serious Wynyard meets paradise vibes with Robin, Haz and Lou hitting the Whip jump in a party train, as they would on their home turf in Queenstown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" src=\"https:\/\/43ride.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2023\/05\/crankworxcairns-2023-whipoff-robingoomes.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8983\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Robin Goomes \/ photo: Clint Trahan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Robin Goomes took the first-place position, followed by Harriet \u2018Haz\u2019 Burbidge-Smith and newcomer to a Whip-Off podium, Louise Ferguson with the bronze medal position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>I\u2019m pretty pumped, just having a good time with the girls. I hadn\u2019t ridden this bike in a Whip-Off so I didn\u2019t really know how it was going to be. It\u2019s so much smaller than my downhill bike so the whips felt good but because it\u2019s a small bike, it felt a bit tweaky.<\/p><cite>Robin Goomes<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>We had a lot of fun on it and the boys killed it with the course build. A couple of soft patches from the weather but it all packed in really nicely. I had heaps of fun riding with Lou and Robin \u2013 we had a good little jam.
