Slovenian international mountain bike enduro series to visit Mt. Kanin and surroundings for second time, five special stages will be held on Sunday. Four weeks after last race in Cerkno its is time for SloEnduro, the Slovenian international mountain bike enduro series, to move to Bovec, Slovenia, to Soča Enduro event.
Soča Enduro was first held two years ago and last year it was held in Bovec for the first time. This year the course will be even more spectacular. Details will be announced on Friday. There will be five special stages with total climbing and descending of approximately 1600 elevation meters. All stages will be held on Sunday, starting from downtown Bovec, and Saturday is reserved for training. Shuttling in training is not allowed.
This will be round three out of six in the series. The event is also part of Soča Outdoor Festival, a series of events held in Soča valley. Soča Enduro is organized by Bovec Tourism.
International company on top
After races in San Dorligo della Valle in April and Cerkno in May Austrian rider Daniel Schemmel (Cube Action Team) is leading the rankings in front of Vid Peršak (Orbea Enduro Crew) in second and Tadej Razpet (Pedal Racing Team) in third. Italian Giulia Albanese (UC Caprivesi) leads the women’s ranking from Austrians Yana Dobnig (RLM Mondraker Racing Team) and Petra Bernhard (Gravity Eagles Austria).
Matjaž Istenič (Energijateam.com) is the most successful junior so far, Robert Kordež (Black Hole Enduro Team) leads Master 1 and Austrian Cri Maierhofer (Radlager) Master 2 while the winner of Cerkno Dušan Oblak (Servis Oblak Žiri) is heading the Hobby class that was not represented at round one in Italy.
Registration for Soča enduro closes Thursday night so the field for the race under Mt. Kanin is not known yet. But there might be another favourite joining the names from the top of the ladder – Matthias Stonig (MS Mondraker) from Villach, Austria has scored a third, second and first in SloEnduro 4Fun races this year but was disqualified in SloEnduro round 1 in Italy.
