Trails, nature, authentic and genuine Italian flavours seasoned with a little adrenaline. The Valtellina Ebike Festival, scheduled for Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 May 2023, presents several news to the event and welcomes MTB legend Hans Rey as special guest.

The Valtellina Ebike Festival – at its fourth edition – is a weekend on electric mountain-bikes with several events and activities for all skill levels: e-enduro competition and guided tours as well as culinary organic foods & wine tours, demo & test rides, bike shows, product expo, street-food and parties.

The event, is scheduled for the 27 and the 28 of May in the Alpine town of Morbegno, the Valtellina capital of good food and good living, located just few kilometres away from Lake Como at the entrance of Valtellina Valley: one of the most spectacular areas in the Alps, show casing great natural and historical beauty and trails suitable for mountain bikers of all abilities. An area rich in history, culture and centuries-old food and wine traditions, such the world-wide famous Bitto cheese. The festival is considered the biggest ebike sports event in Italy.

The Events

Like every year, the main initiative is the Festival Ride (on Saturday, 27th), a great all-mountain tour of 35 kilometres and 1000 meters of vertical gain that involves vineyards, ancient alpine villages and trails in the woods. A tour of intermediate difficulty that leads to the discovery of splendid panoramas of the Valtellina valley up to Lake Como.

The Gusto di Valtellina (on Sunday, 28th) is a local food focused easy tour suitable for everyone. The includes food and wine tasting stops organised in iconic locations: ancient palaces, historic cellars and in a beautiful abbey built in the year 1000. On the menu are the typical dishes of the valley, such as apples, cheeses, bresaola and good wine.

The Trail Experience is an enduro tour with Hans Rey on the trails of the Orobie Alps for riders with advanced skills. (1500m vertical) A rustic lunch stop in a remote mountain hut with polenta and sausages will be served along the way.

Val Masino and Enchanted Forest is a naturalistic tour, which leads the participants into one of the most evocative naturalistic areas of Valtellina which, thanks to its beauty, has earned the nickname of “Italian Yellowstone”.

The competition

The big highlight of 2023 will be the E-Enduro Race, a two days competition with a total of 7 stages, 65.8 kilometres and 3100 meters of vertical.

The competition will start from the eBike village and will take the riders on the more technical and adrenaline-stuffed trails of the area. The route will be revealed to the athletes only at the last minute. Registrations are already open at this link

The race stages, like the other tours of the Valtellina Ebike Festival, are designed and prepared by 360 Valtellina Bike, a local association with more than 150 members which aims to build, maintain and restore the bike trails of the lower side of Valtellina.

The special guest

The Valtellina Ebike Festival grows every year and aims to become a major event for e-mtb enthusiasts not only within national borders but also internationally. Mountain Bike legend and pioneer Hans Rey will be our guest of honor. Hans is a global icon for mountain biking and an inductee of the MTB Hall of Fame, Hans loves the Valtellina and has previously helped in the development of important projects such as the Alta Rezia tour and the Livigno bike resort. Festival participants will be able to ride at his side during the Trail Experience tour.

E-Bike village and expo

The heart of the festival will be the eBike Village located in the historical downtown of Morbegno: an exhibition village where people can see new bike products, attend spectacular bmx freestyle shows and test the new models of hybrid and electric cars. Ebikes of different brands are available for rental directly on place. Saturday night everybody is invited to attend Morborock, one of the best music event in Valtellina.
