Livigno (ITA), September 15th 2014 – For three days, Livigno will be dedicated to “fat wheels”, the new frontier of MTB: Fat bikes. Ideal for the upcoming winter conditions, everyone should have a go on these unique bicycles. The FUNNY FAT FESTIVAL program includes bike tests, guided tours, bikepark access, dinner in ‘the hut’ and, of course, lots of fun.
Some like it “fat”. These funny looking MTB bikes are exactly that, with their massive tyres, they can conquer terrain that would be impossible on standard sized wheels. Fat tyres are in fact, particularly large, suitable for ripping up the snow in the mountains or even the sandiest beaches. To help demonstrate their full potential, Livigno has collaborated in creating an event, the Funny Fat Festival, which aims to entertain and create new fans of these awesome machines. With the winter approaching, this could be your ticket to keep shredding through the blistering months.
The Funny Fat Festival takes place from 26th to 28th September and is an event organized in collaboration with Miss Grape, the biggest group of fat bike fans in Europe.
The Program
Friday, September 26:
– 9:00 registration opens at Plaza Placheda (livigno.eu/plaza-Placheda)
– 9:30 Freeride group departure towards Mottolino Bike Park, for a freeride day (mottolino.com/it)
– 10.00 guided excursion departure
Panoramic Tour “Gita delle Tee” (20km) Medium difficulty trail
– 18.00 Meeting at Plaza Placheda
Gondola ride at Carosello 3000 (carosello3000.com), riding till Malga Val Federia. Dinner in the hut. Return by bike to Livigno (mandatory to bring adequate lighting).
Saturday, September 27th:
– 9:00 registration opening at Plaza Placheda (livigno.eu/plaza-Placheda)
– 10.00 departure for “adventure” tour.
Trail of medium difficulty. For those not equipped to carry luggage for the night, it will be possible to use the luggage transportation service.
– 13.00 lunch at Malga Trela
– 15.00 departure direction Fraele refuge
It will be possible to overnight in the refuge (prior reservation at the registration time) or by your own means.
Sunday, September 28th:
– 9:00 Long tour departure
direction of Gallo mountain pass/ Val Mora and return to Livigno (about 40 km and 1000 meters of altitude gap)
– 10.00 Short tour departure
back to Livigno (about 15 km in altitude 400 meters of altitude gap)
Registration costs € 50 * and includes:
