Last but certainly not least of Crankworx Innsbruck is the RockShox Downhill Innsbruck Presented by Deuter. Many world class downhillers have converged to race this fast and rooty track. With a flat-out style track, the riders had to push as hard as they could to make up time, while also being smooth and staying off the brakes as much as possible. It made for some very tight racing. First place seeds, Bernard Kerr and Valentina Höll both maintained their top spots, securing the gold medal position on the Elite podium. So, so happy to win a Crankworx downhill. My first…
Super Saturday at Crankworx Innsbruck was one for the books with the Thule Slopestyle Innsbruck event to start the day and then the Crankworx Innsbruck Pump Track Challenge presented by Raiffeisen Club to keep the party going. Pump track masterclass riders, Jayce Cunning and Caroline Buchanan continue to reign supreme in this discipline taking the gold medal for Pro Men and Women, respectively. Kiwi rider Tuhoto-Ariki Pene battled the Australian in the gold-medal round, but he was no match for Cunning’s speed and precision on this track. Buchanan’s prowess on the pump track gained her an advantage of 1.040 seconds…
Emil Johansson has now made history, breaking the record held by Brandon Semenuk for the most number of Crankworx World Tour Slopestyle gold-medals (12 gold medals!!!), not to mention securing the Triple Crown of Slopestyle Award for 2023. Today was no easy feat for the Swede after battling through some wind conditions and getting his top score of 92.5 from run 1 bumped by Red Bull rider, Dawid Godziek. Many of the riders struggled to put down a clean run, including Dawid Godziek who had a banger first run but then crashed on the landing of the final jump. When…
The spectators of Crankworx Innsbruck saw many a Speed & Style legends throw down on the course at Bike Park Innsbruck. This course features long straightaways and two big trick jumps, favouring the stylers more than the speed racers. We saw Speed & Style powerhouses Robin Goomes and Tomas Lemoine sealing the legacy and taking the gold medal for women and men, respectively. Goomes shared the gold-medal match-up run with her best mate and training partner, with Red Bull rider Harriet Burbidge-Smith who came home with the silver medal. American slopestyle legends dominated the rest of the podium steps with…
Day two of Crankworx Innsbruck, and the heavy heat made for some exciting conditions on the Crankworx Innsbruck Dual Slalom track. Loose, dry, and cut up with deep ruts, the course was proving to run rowdy and fast for the riders. First place qualifier Martha Gill stayed consistent through the rounds taking home her second dual slalom gold medal, beating American downhiller, Anna Newkirk in the gold-medal match-up. Best described by many of the riders today as being quite a downhill-style slalom course, it was fitting to see the final four men for the bronze- and gold-medal match-ups all downhillers.…
The legendary Official European Whip-Off Championships Presented by POC kickstarted Crankworx Innsbruck set against arguably the most scenic whip-off jump on the planet. As the storm clouds parted, the riders started sending this massive jump overlooking the Innsbruck valley. Estimated at 3,000, this was the largest Whip-Off crowd at Crankworx Innsbruck to date. Kaos Seagrave and Vinny Armstrong go home the 2023 champions. The men’s podium was a familiar trio to what we saw at Crankworx Rotorua earlier this year, with Edgar Briole and Kade Edwards taking the second and third step, respectively. On the women’s podium, Robin Goomes took…
WTB has modernized its beloved Silverado and Volt saddles with updated aesthetics, improved comfort (yes, that’s somehow possible) and our new Fusion Form technology. The Silverado and Volt have gone nearly unchanged since their introductions over a decade ago and their widespread prevalence on bikes today is proof that unrivaled comfort is a timeless achievement. When it came time to update them, we needed to be certain the new versions would further build upon the comfort of their tried-and-true predecessors. We dissected every minute detail of the original designs, refined them wherever feedback deemed necessary, and created countless samples in…
