The Enduro World Series (EWS) is excited to unveil its 2020 calendar featuring eight incredible venues across three continents, as the fight to crown the world’s best mountain biker starts all over again. The series returns to South America to kick off the season, and first up it’s back to Manizales, Colombia for round one. Manizales first featured on the EWS Calendar in 2018, where Colombia offered riders the warmest of welcomes and some of the wildest racing of the year. Featuring an intense downtown stage through the heart of the city before transferring to the forests that flank the area’s hills,…

Up to 300 young rippers are expected to race the Specialized Rookies Cup on Saturday and to choose the fastest lines during the iXS International Rookies Championships on Sunday. An addition to…
The second FMB Gold Event of the 2019 season saw the world’s best Slopestyle athletes descend on the quaint Austrian town of Saalbach Hinterglemm, a tiny town that became the global capital of Slopestyle this weekend. Coming off of a win at Swatch Rocket Air earlier this season and an impressive 3rd place at Crankworx Innsbruck, Dawid Godziek travelled to GlemmRide with a chip on his shoulder, but also with realistic expectations. Defending Champion Torquato Testa (ITA) and top-level Slopestyle riders such as Emil Johansson (SWE), Nicholi Rogatkin (USA), Erik Fedko (GER) and Tomas Lemoine (FRA) also travelled to Austria with a…
Exploring Slovenia in September 2018, thanks to a completely random coincidence, in Cerkno I’ve met quite an amazing personality of the Slovenian biking world. It was Primoz Figaro Ravnik, and I quickly caught a good contact with him because we both used to race a lot in biking competitions but currently we go ride just for pleasure. However, he and the local team decided to create an event that will connect bikers and motivate them to ride together regardless of their skills or sports ambitions. Trans Julius is not a regular race for professional riders. It is just a sport…
Competition, competition and after competition – Trans Julius’ four-day cycling adventure has come to an end. What happened on the spot and why do we think that it is not an ordinary competition? Read for yourself. As you remember, we went to Slovenia to support the local team in preparing the routes. In addition, Marek had plans to start, and I did some photos of the event, which we also managed to implement. In the previous article we presented to you a detailed report on the preparations – now it’s time for particulars related to the atmosphere prevailing during the…
The Enduro World Series (EWS) has landed in Val Di Fassa Italy for round four. The MET EWS Val Di Fassa takes place in the heart of the Dolomites, a famous UNESCO World Heritage Site. And riders will have the chance to enjoy some of the incredible views, as the one day race takes in a combination of pedalling and lift accessed liaisons. Taking in five stages across 41km, the race features an incredible 3000 metres of descent. Riders will be struck by the sheer variety of the stages on offer – from loose and open to tight, steep and technical.…
Trans Julius is not an ordinary competition – it’s an adventure among friends and an opportunity to share a bicycle passion. This year, our editor Justyna and Marek (balkanyrudej.pl) have the pleasure to take part in the preparations for this amazing event. Slovenia welcomed us with majestic mountains and beautiful weather. Marek is familiar to these areas – together with his wife Ola, they visit more and less known areas of the former Yugoslavia, but this time together we went to help the local team with preparations of the competition. Our task is to mark the trails, correct bends and……
For all three riders on the podium in today’s Crankworx Innsbruck Slopestyle, it was the realization of a dream. On the third step, Dawid Godziek (POL), a wildcard entry invited to the contest just six weeks ago. On the second, Emil Johansson (SWE), who this time last year was in and out of hospital, unable to ride, with no assurance he would be able to compete at same level again. On the top, Brett Rheeder (CAN), who wrote a new story for himself today. I’ve been in this position so many times. I come down on my first run, I’m…
The track was new, the location different, but the top of the box in today’s iXS Innsbruck Downhill presented by Raiffeisen Club was a familiar sight. Taking her third downhill win in three years at Crankworx Innsbruck, Tracey Hannah (AUS) clocked the fastest time of the day for the women, with a 3:22.46, over eight seconds faster than second place finisher Camille Balanche (SUI). The win is the second Crankworx DH win of the season for Hannah. Brook MacDonald (NZL) takes his first DH win at Crankworx’s Austrian stop, also adding to the momentum he built after winning the downhill at…
In a battle reminiscent of Slopestyle days of old, two Crankworx legends found themselves going head-to-head for gold in today’s Mons Royale Speed & Style at Crankworx Innsbruck. After charging hard and going big up against some of the fastest and most stylish riders in the sport today, Martin Söderström (SWE) and Kyle Strait (USA) were the last men standing. In the end, Strait went down on the first jump of the second matchup, and the Big Swede came out on top in the discipline that’s become his focus at Crankworx. Martin was breathless after four rounds of competition in…
Kialani Hines (USA) and Adrien Loron (FRA) are each riding a high after pulling out all the mental and physical stops at Crankworx Innsbruck Day 2, each closing it out with wins in the RockShox Innsbruck Pump Track Challenge. I’ve been up since 5. Intense all day. I’m ready for bed.- Kialani Hines Both Hines and Loron raced earlier in the day in the 100% Dual Slalom Innsbruck, with Hines making it all the way through to finals. Ultimately she came up short against Vaea Verbeeck (CAN), but tonight’s competition was all hers. “I had to make up a bit of time…
The 100% Dual Slalom Innsbruck wrapped today with a second Crankworx Dual Slalom win of the season in the women’s race, and an upset courtesy of a relative newcomer. Vaea Verbeeck (CAN) takes her second Crankworx Dual Slalom win in 2019, while Matthew Sterling (USA) takes his first ever elite win. “It’s an unreal feeling,” said the 17-year-old. Sterling is best known as a junior racer on the DH circuit. He raced in the elite category in the Dual Slalom at Crankworx Rotorua earlier this season, finishing in 11th. “I did not expect this at all.” For her part, Verbeeck…
