With back to back EWS weekends I think everyone knew it would come down to who could recover the best from Ireland. It was in Peebles last year where I managed to score my first podium ever and with two days of racing so much can happen, so it’s an exciting race. Coming from near perfect conditions in Ireland it was almost a given before I checked the weather forecast that we would see some typical Scottish weather over the week. It was pretty much what we expected but with extreme changes, we would see everything from blue skies to…

The Cannondale Alpine Bikes World Enduro will be remembered for two things – the wild weather of the Tweed Valley, Scotland and the charge of Trek. It was almost like offseason again after the Rotorua EWS. Being back at home and training away, days were getting shorter and the change in temperature was turning towards winter. Seeing regular race coverage starting to pop up on the all the social media feeds got me excited to leave NZ and get back to the racing. With an eye on the climate in Ireland I was starting to prepare myself for what could be a muddy race, in similar conditions to the autumn New Zealand I was about to leave. The fourth and unfortunately also the last day of the iXS Dirt Masters Festival completely focused on the iXS German Downhill Cup. In their final runs, Nick Beer and Kim Schwemmer were the fastest riders of their respective categories and took home the title. Once more the iXS Dirt Masters Festival says farewell to riders and visitors, as the good weather also already did earlier today. Light rain accompanied the riders throughout the whole day and turned the rather dusty track into a slippery mess, at least those parts outside the forest. But the conditions made the race even more…
