Saalfelden Leogang in Salzburger Land, Austria, August 21st 2014 – In Saalfelden Leogang the month of September becomes Biketember! To send off the season in epic style, there will be a great get-together for downhill, and enduro riders as well as for young shredders: from September 19th to 21st mountain bike fans can participate in the first ever Biketember Festival featuring a stop of the iXS European Downhill Cup and the final stage of Specialized-SRAM Enduro Series. Proud parents can also cheer on their ambitious kids at the next edition of the SCOTT Junior Trophy.
The climate in the Alps forces mountain bikers to end the season earlier than desired. However, Saalfelden Leogang will make sure it ends in epic style at the debut edition of the Biketember Festival.
The program includes incredible action from the iXS European Downhill. More than 300 licensed riders will shred down Leogang’s notorious UCI Downhill World Cup high-speed track, the “Speedster” trail in Bikepark Leogang. The most daring rider will be crowned the fastest downhiller of the day.
The well-received SCOTT Junior Trophy returns to Saalfelden Leogang after its success in 2013. Kids between 3 and 16 years will enjoy competing on a diverse course at the Ritzensee in Saalfelden. The final stage of the Specialized-SRAM Enduro Series will be a premiere for Saalfelden Leogang. Authorized to join the race are licensed- and hobby-riders. The starter field will be divided into different categories: for men and women there is a pro- and amateur class as well as a mixed professional class. Each stage begins with a mass start. The times from all of the single stages will be combined for the overall result.
Entertaining side events will compliment the season finale in Saalfelden Leogang. To get the riders and crowd pumping, the Biketember Festival will start with a Best-Whip-contest on Friday, September 19th at 6:00pm – airtime is guaranteed!
Party fans need to wait for Saturday evening for the Ö3 Party. Mashup Germany and “BenStilller”, will start spinning the decks at 9:00pm in the event hall, located at the bottom station of the gondola.
And during the whole weekend you have the chance to take a look behind the scenes of professional mountain biking on the huge expo area – it’s worth a visit!
