Saalfelden Leogang in Salzburger Land, Austria, April 9th 2015 – The Out of Bounds Festival from June 11th to 14th will turn Saalfelden Leogang into a hot spot for mountain bike fans with the UCI Mountain Bike Downhill World Cup and the tenth edition of 26TRIX.
Out Of Bounds is all about defying the norms and going bigger and faster than before. This weekend in June has played host to legendary moments, like Aaron Gwin’s bare rim run down the “Speedster” track and Antoine Bizet’s double backflip nohand on Bikepark Leogang’s 26TRIX course. So if you enjoy being in the middle of the action – Saalfelden Leogang from June 11th to 14th is the place to be!
On the program: the fastest mountain bike racers on the planet will meet up in Leogang for round 3 of the UCI Mountain Bike Downhill World Cup. The “Speedster” track is pretty self-explanatory. High-speed lines with huge jumps, rocks and roots make up this World Cup course. On more than one occasion, it has given us legendary moments such as Aaron Gwin’s flat tire run from 2014: http://win.gs/OnFire. Many bike fans still remember the goose bumps during the championship battle between Steve Smith and Gee Atherton in 2013 as well as Manon Carpenters and Rachel Athertons nail-biting duels. This year, Josh Bryceland and Manon Carpenter will be defending their titles. Who can steal their glory? The finals start on Sunday, June 14th with the Juniors at 12:30pm. Women’s Elite follows at 1:15pm and the Men’s Elite at 2:00pm.
Also on the Out of Bounds repertoire is the FMB World Tour Gold event, 26TRIX. Now, for the tenth time, this dirt jump contest will once again attract the world’s best back to the course in Bikepark Leogang on June 13th. Stars like Martin Soderstrom, Darren Berrecloth and Brett Rheeder have all thrown it down here in Leogang. 26TRIX is also a great stage for newbies like Nicholi Rogatkin, who despite Antoine Bizet’s double backflip nohand was able to claim victory last year. In addition to the races and competitions, the weekend’s program will be filled with exciting side events to make the Out of Bounds Festival another season highlight. Spectators can roam behind the scenes of team paddocks at the large expo area and DJ Rene Rodriguezz will bring the good vibes to the Oe3 party on Sunday.
