Swatch Rocket Air was electrifying! The first FMB Gold event of the season took place in Thun, Switzerland and 15 finalists battled it out on a jungle themed course.

Nicholi Rogatkin

At first it looked like Thomas Genon would still have his chance to defend his title. After the first run the top three riders were Nicholi Rogatkin (95.0), Thomas Genon (93.0) and Max Fredriksson (91.0). However the second run was to become insanley intense. The young Italian Diego Caverzasi shocked the field with a huge run, which catapulted him into second place, thanks to a massvie 94.0 score. Now, Genon and Fredriksson would have had to risk everthing to stay within the top three, let alone contend Rogatkin for the title. First up was Max Fredriksson, who made the crowd go wild with one of the best runs of his young career. Even though he just came up short of the first placed American, he was stoked about his run, which secured him second place (94.7). Defending champion Genon was up next but didn’t manage to withstand the pressure and had to be content with the fourth rank.

Rogatkin thanked the crowd by putting on his game face once again and sending his “Twister” rounding off a truely lengendary Swatch Rocket Air 2016. “The people, who were here supporting us today, were just great. I was the last rider and just had to finish the show off with a bang, send the Twister to say thanks. I hope you’ll all be back here next year”, said a stoked Rogatkin, sitting on his jungle throne after the event.
