The second half of SloEnduro series starts with the Black Hole Enduro event. Hot weekend on trails of Koroška ahead.

July 27th 2016 – SloEnduro, the regional mountain bike enduro series, continues this weekend with fourth race out of the total six. It is time for the Black Hole Enduro, part of Black Hole Bike Fest in Mežica Valley in the region of Koroška near the border with Austria.

After Enduro 3 Camini in San Dorligo della Vale, Enduro Cerkno and Soča Enduro in Bovec the series returns to another classic venue. Black Hole Enduro has been voted the best event of 2013 and 2014 seasons. It was still a great event in 2015 but maybe it pushed the riders too far with three days of quite extreme racing.

So this year it is back to two days of special stages between Ravne na Koroškem and Jamnica. Friday night the riders will hit the starirs and streets of Ravne for the prologue. Then on Saturday the action starts at 9am and takes the participants to four special stages in Jamnica singletrail park with total elevation gain and loss of around 1100m. The stages will be announced and marked for practice on Thursday afternoon.

After Saturday’s award presentation and chilling at the EkoHotel Koroš pool the Sunday’s racing is part of the festival but not the SloEnduro. There will be a stage above the town of Mežica, followed by another one for the fastest 25 inside the abandoned mines.

Here’s the competition

It will be a colorful crowd racing at Black Hole Enduro with some fast international riders like the Austrians Daniel Schemmel (Cube Action Team), Matthias Stonig (MS Mondraker) and Kevin Maderegger (Ghost Factory Racing Riot) and some Brits we haven’t seen in the SloEnduro series yet like Olly Wilkins (DMR) and Ben Deakin (Mucoff / SantaCruz UK) who are in town for festival clinics.

Schemmel is second in the series standings, in a sandwich between two Koroška locals, winner of Soča Enduro Peter Mlinar (Blackthorn) in 1st and one of the fastest under 21 riders in the Enduro World Series, winner of Enduro Cerkno Vid Peršak (Gaes Orbea Enduro Crew) in 3rd place. Mlinar lives just up the valley so these are not exactly his home trails while Peršak has been growing up just a couple of kilometers from the race course.

Tadej Razpet (Pedal Racing Team) is leading the Kenda SuperStage ranking after three events with a gap of 26 seconds over the chasers.
