For those stoked on riding bikes this has to be the best part of the year. After months of tedious bike-free boredom, the dirt and mountains are finally calling. Mountain bike rookies, families and experts will be able to send it in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis from June 8. The bike region has a great camp and event lineup prepared this year. Whether you are looking for a chilled mountain bike tour, some flowy turns or a fast-paced descent on gnarly downhill tracks in the bike park, there are plenty of positive MTB vibes to go around.
Its time to finally send it into the new mountain biking season! The doors to Bikepark Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis open on June 8 and the lifts outside of the bike park will start taking riders up the mountains surrounding the three Tyrolean villages from June 16. Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis has a boatload of events and camps this year and knowing that the dig crew has done an awesome job reshaping the trails, nothing stands in the way of getting the adrenaline pumping and those MTB endorphins surging. The list of mountain bike camps has grown this year; a sign that the family region is increasing its efforts to create the best mountain biking experience possible for riders of all shapes and sizes.
A brand new camp this year is one for all the bike riding female yoga lovers out there. The „Bike-Breath-Balance“ camp combines the best of both worlds. The 2.5-day-long camp covers riding technique training in the bike park and includes several courses that touch on mental preparation, breathing techniques, mindfulness and stretching / yoga exercises. You’ll be floating down the trails hyper relaxed after spending time on the mat and on the bike. Riders that are more into action and want to improve their skills in the air and on big jumps will be treated to masses of airtime during the „BIKEnSTYLE Camp“. Young Austrian Slopestyle athlete Peter Kaiser has got a weekend of jumps and style on the cards for everyone who signs up.
Another new development is the newly founded Bike School. The family region Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis is a favored hot spot for beginners and young rookies that are looking to develop their passion for mountain biking at 1.400m / 4.593ft a.s.l. Organized by Celine Blochberger, a very passionate and skilled mountain biker and student of sports science, this open-air classroom offers a wide range of different courses for cheeky monkeys, teenagers, young adults and the elders amongst us. Additionally the Bike School offers mountain bike tours, so riding techniques can be worked on whilst exploring the best alpine trails the surrounding mountains have to offer.
Must watch! Jackson Goldstone and his dad Ron, show us how much fun family biking is:
The biggest highlight for all MTB rookies and their families is set to go down in August. The MTB-Festival Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis kicks off with the Rookie Camp on July 30. The camp participants will be joined by hundreds of MTB rookies from all over the world on the following weekend for the “Kona Rookie Games”, that conclude the festival. The family festivity will see kids and teenagers in search of the fastest lines and racing down the Downhill track during the „Specialized Rookies Cup“ (August 4) and the unofficial youth World Championships, the „iXS International Rookies Championships“ (August 5). The stoke is real that weekend and the atmosphere created by all the young shredders and their families is contagiously awesome. After talents such as Vali Höll and Mille Johnset have moved on to greater challenges and now compete at the Mercedes-Benz UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup the question is, which ladies will be able to fill their shoes? The guys on the other hand can already look forward to seeing Jackson Goldstone and competing with the young Canadian again this year. Registration for the races during the “Kona Rookie Games” starts on June 5.
It is time for the season of shred to begin! Further information about biking in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis is available on www.bike-sfl.at.
