Not long now until Austrian mountain bike paradise Bikepark Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis opens its doors to the public for an all new season of family shred. Young mountain bikers and mountain biking families can look forward to the opening weekend from 7-9 June. As it is also Father’s Day in Austria, the bike park has prepared a highlight for all dads, mums and kids to kick off the season. The bike region has plenty more action and fun on the cards for all gravity and trail fans in 2019.
The region Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis lies nestled in the beautiful Tyrolean mountains and every summer, the holiday destination turns into a hot spot for young mountain bikers, rookies and families. Since opening the bike park in 2013, the biking opportunities in and around the three villages have evolved and progressed. Jackson and Ron Goldstone showcased a few of the possibilities, and how much fun you can have together, in the video “Day out with Dad”. To kick off this year, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis is celebrating the start of the season on the weekend of Father’s Day in Austria.

The new season starts on 7 June, when the bike park will start to welcome riders from all over the world. The first weekend of the season will offer the best trails in prime condition and plenty of fun and good vibes. No matter if you are young or old, a rookie or a professional, everyone will be able to find what they are looking for. On Father’s Day itself, 9 June, the bike park invites mountain biking families to join the “Family Session” for a chance to win prizes and start the season on an even higher note.
By purchasing a day ticket for the bike park, parents and kids will receive a “Family Session Pass” and can head up the mountain via the Waldbahn cable car. Similar to a scavenger hunt, the teams have to ride along the Milky Way trail to find three different stations, where challenges await. After completing the task, successful participants receive a stamp in the “Family Session Pass”. The riders that collect all of the stamps have the chance to win great prizes, such as bike park tickets and other goodies.
After getting the season underway, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis will be looking on to a season full of riding excitement. Apart from a number of camps, courses and bike tours, the region is especially looking forward to the MTB-Festival Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis from 29 July to 4 August.
Any young rider out there who has ever wanted to compete at a high level and be part of a race which has a professional setup, that will make him or her feel like they are the center of attention, like the pros are at a World Cup, will be stoked to be a part of this event. The festival gets underway with the “Kona Rookie Camp”, during which rookies will be able to improve their bike skills, get to meet other kids from all over the world and also be instructed by experienced coaches from all fields. The week concludes with the “Kona Rookie Games”, which start on Thursday, 2 August, when over 200 young riders make their way to Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis to compete against the best riders of their age group during the “Specialized Rookies Cup” and “iXS International Rookies Championships”.

The family region will also be offering a new camp named “Trail Session” for all gravity girls out there from 16-18 August. Austrian freeride pro Angie Hohenwarter will be taking a group of female riders for a spin over the various trails in the region. The group will experience three days of riding, a relaxed learning atmosphere and bags full of laughs and fun vibes. Angie will be teaching riding techniques and giving handy insights about riding and maintaining bikes. Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis is the place to be for a family holiday. Regardless whether it is summer or winter there is always something going on. In summer the cable cars and bus shuttles connect the mountainous region of Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis. Apart from many other attractions the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis high plateau offers bike fun for the whole family. From gentle bike rides for young and old, to mountain bike tours in the middle of breath-taking mountain scenery, to action-packed descents on single trails or courses through in Bikepark Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis. Visitors can reach all singletrails by using the Schönjochbahn. The Waldbahn takes riders and their bikes to the trails within the bike park, which have different levels of difficulty from blue (easy) and red (medium) to black (expert). There is also a kids park, slopestyle area with a landing bag, pump track, dirt line and training area at the bottom station, where beginners can try out and get used to their new equipment. Experts in the bike shop advise in bike and safety equipment matters and the bike school and rental office can also be found here. Beside the shop there is also a chill out area and a snack bar.
