Munich, July 22nd 2014 – All three event wildcard athletes for Red Bull District Ride are now set. After Szymon Godziek (POL) and Garrett Robertson (CAN) it was Louis Reboul (FRA) who won the last event wildcard. Last weekend, he surprised everybody with his victory at the FMB World Tour Gold event Swatch Prime Line Munich. Now, there are only ten more riders pending – eight will be selected according to the FMB World Ranking after Red Bull Joyride at Crankworx Whistler on August 16th. Two other wildcards will be awarded to particularly outstanding riders. Further information can be found on redbulldistrictride.com.
Simply amazing – Louis Reboul dominated Swatch Prime Line Munich from start to finish. It began when he became the first rider to attempt the full loop. Feeling confident, he added this unique feature into his dialed run to place him first in qualifying, and on Sunday he came out to steal the top spot on the podium. His impressive overall performance left big names behind him and the French rider could not be happier: “I’ve never made it into the Top 5 and now winning a FMB World Tour Gold event and getting a wildcard at the same time is simply unreal. I’m looking forward to the Red Bull District Ride.”
The likeable Frenchman has been pursued by bad luck the past few years and suffered a long term a shoulder injury. This season, he is rising up the ranks once more. After a good sixth place at the Hall of Dirt (GER) and FISE World Montpellier (FRA), he now has a FMB World Tour stop win to his name and is ranked 19th in the FMB World Ranking. As an predominant part of the “French connection”, one of the largest groups in the FMB World Tour, he receives great support from his countrymen who motivate and push him to reach his full potential. The course at Red Bull District Ride will certainly not intimidate him, so we can expect to see an impressive performance in Nuremburg.
There are only ten spots left for this urban freeride spectacle in Nuremberg’s old town on September 6th. Of this, eight spots will be given according to the FMB World Ranking after Red Bull Joyride at Crankworx on August 16th. Two other spots will be awarded by the event host for outstanding athletes.
After four editions in 2005, 2006 and 2011 in Nuremberg/Germany as well as in Catania/Italy (2006), Red Bull District Ride has gained the reputation of a legendary event. The top mountain bike athletes gather to compete at a unique urban setting and entertain thousands of spectators with their tricks.
