Classic meets Modern: ABUS introduces the Indy, a new helmet in a classic, minimalist skate helmet design made from state-of-the-art materials and technology. The helmet’s development took into account the wishes of leading mountain bike slopestyle athletes. Whether at the local skatepark, on the pump track, or the legendary dirt jump lines of La Poma, the Indy is a simple yet loyal companion – both for high-flying tricks and rough landings.

Anyone who pushes their limits day in and day out at the skatepark or on dirt jump lines also has specific demands for their helmet. It must be as robust as possible for continuous use and at the same time be lightweight. It should not restrict during tricks and shredding and certainly should not stand out with overly fancy looks. This clear yet complex input came from ABUS slopestyle riders like Lukas Huppert, Tom Isted, and Bernd Winkler before ABUS set out to design a new skate helmet. The result is a helmet with an absolutely clean look – inspired by classic skate and BMX helmets and the freedom-loving culture of these sports, reflected even in the helmet’s name.
What’s under the shell?
The helmet features a robust ABS outer shell. Underneath, EPS foam and open cell paddings made of a triple foam layer comfortably and securely protect and enclose the head. The adjustable strap is directly and visually appealingly connected to the ABS shell and is securely closed with a classic buckle. Special feature: At the end of its life, the helmet can be disassembled into its individual parts via a clip inside – allowing the components to be correctly disposed of separately.
The Indy looks great, and with four different color options, there’s something for everyone. It has a sleek profile, feels secure, and I also find the chin strap very comfortable.
