WTB is expanding its carbon wheel lineup with the launch of the CMR Light mountain bike wheelset. Combining lightweight, high-performance carbon rims with WTB’s World Cup race-proven Frequency 7X hubs, CMR Light is engineered to deliver an exceptional balance of low weight, strength, and reliability for demanding mountain bike terrain. Designed for riders looking to maximize climbing efficiency and maintain a lively, responsive feel on the trail, CMR Light delivers the performance and confidence to ride harder.

Built on Podium-Proven Hubs.

At the core of CMR Light is WTB’s Frequency 7X hub platform, proven at the highest levels of racing with numerous race wins and overall XCO and XCC World Cup titles at the hands of Cannondale Factory Racing’s Luca Martin. Featuring a patent-pending hub/ratchet interface, these advanced hubs are engineered to handle demanding loads while delivering long-term performance and straightforward servicing.

All WTB ratchets feature a DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating that provides greater hardness and significantly lower friction than traditional hard chrome-plated drive systems. The inner, hub-side ratchet ring also uses a splined interface rather than threads, allowing it to withstand more than twice the torque of traditional threaded designs while simplifying servicing.

Frequency 7X hubs use larger-than-typical Enduro bearings throughout, including freehub bearings that increase the load rating per bearing by up to 38% compared with competitive rear hubs. This creates a stiffer axle assembly, enhances reliability, and helps extend service intervals. Fully sealed and rigorously tested to keep dirt and moisture out, Frequency 7X hubs are built to perform through everything from all-day epics to high-intensity cross-country racing.

Carbon You Can Count On.

CMR Light features a purpose-built, lightweight carbon rim engineered to deliver exceptional strength, stiffness, and impact resistance. Its 30mm internal width provides an optimized foundation for modern mountain bike tires, while a hookless rim design and wide upper legs help protect against pinch flats and support reliable tubeless performance. External spoke-hole reinforcement and 4D spoke drillings optimize load distribution and overall wheel strength.

CMR Light rims are engineered to provide small-bump comfort without compromising the precise handling needed for hard cornering. Patented TCS technology completes the package, delivering exceptional air retention for dependable tubeless performance.

Lightweight by Design. Responsive on the Trail.

Every element of CMR Light is designed to prioritize low weight, reliability, and a lively ride feel. Its 24-spoke configuration and CenterLock brake mount help minimize weight, while the carbon rim’s lateral stiffness delivers responsive handling and precise cornering. At the same time, carefully engineered vertical compliance helps smooth out rough terrain, balancing efficient power transfer with comfort and control when the trail gets demanding.

The result is a lightweight, responsive wheelset built for riders looking to maximize climbing efficiency, accelerate with confidence, and maintain a nimble, precise feel across varied mountain bike terrain. CMR Light i30 wheels come ready to ride with TCS tubeless tape and valves installed, at a weight of 1300g per wheelset.

Ride With Confidence.

Whether it’s lightweight trail riding or all-out enduro, WTB backs its carbon rims with our Ride With Confidence Guarantee. If you break a WTB carbon rim while riding, as long as you’re the original owner, we’ll send you a replacement for free. No exceptions.
