Epic Bikepark Leogang was established exactly 25 years ago as the first official bike park in Austria. It will celebrate a quarter of a century in the 2026 season, and to celebrate, in collaboration with the Rasoulution agency and local tourism offices, we have prepared a three-part article that will provide a closer look at Austria’s largest bike region, Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn. In the second part of our tour, we take you to the main attraction, Epic Bikepark Leogang.

25 years of Bikepark Leogang – Saalfelden Leogang
Epic Bikepark Leogang is a classic in itself. Established in 2001 as Austria’s first official bike park, it is now one of the most renowned in Europe. It regularly hosts the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series – MTB World Cup in such disciplines as Downhill, Enduro or Cross-Country – and has hosted the Downhill World Championships twice (in 2012 and 2020). It’s worth noting that the world’s most important event will return to Leogang for the third time from August 30th to September 3rd, 2028.
Leogang itself is a tiny Austrian town of just over 3,000 residents in the Salzburg region, in the Zell am See district. To the north, the Leogang Steinberge mountains rise, with the highest peak, the Birnhorn, at 2,634m a.s.l., and it’s these mountains that most often feature in the incredibly picturesque photos from the local bike park.
Epic Bikepark Leogang is located on Mount Asitz, also known as the Mountain of the Senses, with its summit being Großer Asitz (1,914m a.s.l.). Mountainbikers are served by two lifts equipped with comfortable gondolas – the Astizbahn and the Steinbergbahn. Both lifts terminate at the upper station at an altitude of 1,762m a.s.l.. During the summer season, the lifts are open from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. It’s worth noting that the riding season in Leogang is very long – in 2026, mountainbikers can use the lines & trails from May 8th until November 8th!
The site offers everything mountainbikers need: convenient parking with spaces for campers, restrooms with showers, restaurants, sports & bike shops, and bike rentals. The focal point of the bike park is the Asitzbahn valley station, so if you’ve run out of parking spaces there or are simply looking for a less crowded spot, it’s worth stopping at the Steinbergbahn valley station, where it’s much quieter.
Bike Park Lines & Trails
For the 2026 season, Epic Bikepark Leogang will offer a total of 15 diverse trails, 6 single trails and a huge beginner’s area, the so-called Riders Playground. The first trail in the bike park’s history was the Flying Gangster line, which is the most popular and scenic trail in the entire complex. Currently, it’s a red freeride trail starting at the middle station of the Asitzbahn lift, with a length of 3.2km and an elevation drop of 484m. Along the way down, you’ll find numerous berms, including wooden wallrides, jumps and fast open sections.
Another classic is Speedster, a trail well-known from the UCI Downhill World Cup. This 2.3km black trail with a vertical drop of 484m, combined with the Vali’s Hölle variant (named after local star & multiple Downhill World Champion, Vali Höll; 900m, -169m), which was created a few years ago, will certainly test your skills with numerous roots, rocks and very steep slopes. If you’re still not thrilled, the black Bongo Bongo trail is worth a try. It’s only 1.3km long and has a vertical drop of 237m, but the sheer number of roots, steep slopes and wooden bridges will give you something to think about.
Also not to be missed are trails like Hangman I (2.1km, -358m) or Hot Shots fired by GoPro (3.3km, -352m). Both start at the top station and offer a completely different set of thrills. Hangman is a red, very technical downhill line, while Hot Shots is a true jumpline, offering large berms, rollers, big jumps and plenty of air time.
If you’re a fan of more natural, enduro-style trails, Epic Bikepark Leogang also has something for you. Opening in 2023, the red singletrack AlteSchmiede Trail (3.4km, -370m) was built entirely without heavy equipment, or the black Matzalm Trail (3.5km, -605m) with enough roots to last you the next dozen or so months. Isn’t that enough? Add in trails like the Forsthof Trail, Schwarzleo Trail and Knappen Trail, which are located in the immediate vicinity. For dessert, there’s always the Asitz Trail, the line connecting Leogang and Saalbach.
For less advanced bikers, there’s a Riders Playground (more on that below), and for those ready to hit the trails, there are two blue lines available: the Steinberg Line (6.1km, -658m) and Hangman II (4.2km, -455m). First trail begins at the top station, the second one at the middle station of the Asitzbahn lift. Both lines goes directly to the bottom station of the Steinbergbahn lift. Both trails are typical flow lines, perfect for starting a bike park adventure or warming up before bigger challenges.
Riders Playground – begginers’ area
At the lower station, there’s a whole Riders Playground area designed for learning and honing your riding skills. There are a total of nine different lines with green, blue and red levels, as well as a 5,000m2 asphalt pump track with an additional line of jumps. What’s more… drops and jumps in various sizes, an airbag for practicing tricks and in 2026 a jump for Whip-Off competitions.
New trails for 2026 season
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Epic Bikepark Leogang opened several new trails for the 2026 season, which were the main focus of our visit. Unfortunately, for various reasons (weather, illness or an overheating GoPro), we weren’t able to fully document them, even though we visited them all.
The first trail on the list is the blue Gateway flow trail, which connects the Steinbergbahn lift’s mid-station with the Steinberg Line. It’s only 600 meters long, but during our visit, it was… closed :(
The second new trail is the black Hangover trail, which intertwines with Hangman I. We descended onto it on our first run completely by accident and that was a huge mistake… especially after the rain. At just 500 meters long and with a 92-meter elevation drop, you definitely need to be prepared. It’s narrow, steep and full of slippery roots and rocks.
New feature number three is also a black trail – Back to the Roots. This 1.3km line with a 125m elevation drop offers exactly what it says. “Back to the Roots” perfectly describes this trail, as it is steep and very narrow in places, with occasional sections without roots. This trail can also serve as a much more demanding alternative to the Steinberg Line, as it begins and ends right on that trail.
Finally, we have the red freeride T-LINE by GoPro trail, which was ready for riding last summer and has been officially opened in August last season. It’s a good alternative to the lower section of Flying Gangster, and its 1.3km length and 191m of elevation drop will surely get your adrenaline pumping. It features plenty of massive berms, several jumps and sharkfins.
Summary
Bikepark Leogang was probably one of the first bike parks I ever heard when I started jumping bikes… about 25 years ago. I didn’t manage to get there until many years later, but I still enjoy it every time I came here.

The trails are incredibly diverse, with varying levels of difficulty and character, so there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re a beginner or advanced rider, jumper or downhiller, it’s simply worth a visit. And the views of the local mountains are pure poetry to me.
The downsides? The only thing that really bothers me are the braking bumps. Unfortunately, it’s such a popular place that in the dry & hot summer, it’s simply unmanageable… and you just have to accept it. It’s a part of the game :)
Bikepark Leogang is a cult destination for every gravity rider. Whether you’re a first-timer or a regular, you’ll have just as much fun. The trail selection grows year after year and well-known and popular trails are regularly improved. Like every other bike park, also Leogang got some braking bumps, thanks to the daily crowds of people of all skill levels riding the most popular trails (including slow beginners and jibbers who destroy the berms), and the trail network stretching into the tens of kilometers.

The variety of trails, from long flowlines to red jumplines and black downhill trails, ensures there’s something for everyone. Keep in mind, however, that Leogang, even on the blue trails, requires some downhill skills, so I recommend this spot for more experienced riders.
The town itself is small and geared more towards active people – a special area at the bottom allows beginners and kids to acquire and develop their skills. Downhill World Cup fans will find treats like a board with photos of the podiums from each category (next to the escalators leading to the lift) and wooden sculptures with the names of the winners on the Speedster course. Overall, Leogang has a distinctive racing vibe that you won’t find in other towns in the region.
Useful informations:
- Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn is Austria’s largest bike region, located approximately 1,100 km from Warsaw. Depending on your destination, the drive takes 12-14 hours.
- Fieberbrunn is the only collaborating town located in the Tirol region. The other places are located in the Salzburg area.
- Bike tickets are valid throughout the Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn region and start at €66 (one day). Additional discounts are also available, such as online purchases or purchases with the Joker Card (Saalbach Hinterglemm).
- The Gravity Card is accepted throughout the cycling region.
- For eMTB users (or enduro riders in very good shape), “THE CHALLENGE – Bike your limit” is a challenge designed to explore the entire region by bike. The 92.68km long route features 300m of climbing and 5615m of descent, with the chance to win prizes in a drawing.
- The local accommodation options are well-developed, and you can easily find a place to stay even in the high season. We recommend the 4* hotel Salzburgerhof Leogang, which is located in the heart of the Epic Bikepark Leogang, and from the swimming pool we have a perfect view on the trails.
- A new addition to the Fieberbrunn – Leogang route in summer 2026 was the Bike & Hike Xpress bus connection, which is dedicated to hikers, tourists, and bikers. The price for a two-way trip was €8, with children traveling for free, but for today it’s unclear whether it will remain on offer in the future.
25 years of Bikepark Leogang
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Epic Bikepark Leogang, a more than 20-minute-long production was created, available on YouTube completely free of charge, which gives a behind-the-scenes look at the creation and development of this place, as well as what has been happening there over the past 25 years.
